Where You’ll Get Your Professional Experience

As a Teacher Education Fellow, you'll take summer courses to prepare for your residency and then transition to evening classes while participating in your residency classroom. After completing your coursework, residency, and a portfolio project, you'll graduate with a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and licensure in your chosen area of specialization:

The graduate program in Elementary Education prepares candidates to work in grades 1-6. Through coursework and field experiences, students develop an understanding of subject matter knowledge, curriculum design, instructional strategies, observation and assessment, communication, and collaboration with families and the community.

The graduate program in Moderate Disabilities prepares candidates to work with children in grades PreK-8 with moderate disabilities who participate in integrated or self-contained classrooms.

Merrimack College is authorized to endorse teacher candidates in the following multiple content areas: Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth and Space Science, General Science, English, History, and Humanities.
